Deon Out After Surgery, Anderson out 2-4 Weeks

IRVING, Texas - The Cowboys will have just one fullback available for Sunday's game with the Bears after veteran Deon Anderson underwent knee surgery on Wednesday to clean out torn meniscus.
Anderson is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. The football jerseys
Cowboys travel to Houston next week, which is followed by the bye week. It's possible that Anderson misses only two games over a three-week span.
But in the meantime, Anderson's absence leaves rookie Chris Gronkowski, an undated free agent from Arizona, as not only the only fullback, but the third tight end as well. Gronkowski has assumed more of an H-back role since making the squad. Steelers jersey

"He's done a pretty good job," head Coach Wade Phillips said of Gronkowski, who had an eight-yard gain, last week for his first NFL carry. "He didn't do a lot other than special teams. He did well on special teams. But he did a nice job on the run from the goal line. We have enough confidence to give him the ball on our Buffalo Bills jersey
1-yard line. He played a couple of (offensive) plays. But we feel good about him."
Clearly, the Cowboys have more confidence in giving the ball to Gronkowski, who already has half the number of career carries as Anderson, who has just two rushes for three yards. Both carries occurred in 2008, as Anderson didn't have a single rush in 2007 or 2009. Anderson does have nine career receptions, although just one last season.
The Cowboys decided to keep two fullbacks on the 53-man roster, mainly because they had just two tight ends in Jason Written and Marcellus Bennett. Third tight end John Phillips suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the first preseason game.
Phillips said he's comfortable with just one fullback and two tight ends Steelers jersey
for the game, for now.
"Right now we are; that could change," Phillips said of those two positions.
