Mets center fielder Carlos Beltran(notes), second baseman Luis Castillo(notes) and lefthander Oliver Perez(notes) skipped the team's visit to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center on Tuesday, angering the team's brass, according to the New York Daily News.

the team this year. Beltran and the team weren't on the same page when he had offseason knee surgery, Castillo has been unhappy about his lack of playing time and the struggling Perez refused an assignment to the minor leagues.
"I don't answer anything about outside the stadium," Perez told the Daily News when asked to explain his absence.
Beltran told the newspaper that he was at a meeting that concerned the high school his charitable foundation is building in his native Puerto Rico. "I don't know who's creating this issue, but this offseason, I went to visit the Veterans Hospital in New York, so it's not like I'm against it," Beltran told the Daily News. "Actually, I went with (Mets CEO) Fred Wilpon."

"Sometimes when you see people with no legs and no arms, when they go to fight for us and they're in the hospital like that, I don't like to see that," Castillo told the Daily News.
Other Mets were disappointed the trio skipped the event.
"You'd like to see everybody. I don't think it's big enough until you get everybody," third baseman David Wight told the newspaper.
Righthander R.A. Dickey(notes) was even more critical. "To be able to look a guy in the eye who doesn't have arms or legs and say, 'Thank you,' that's a big deal," Dickey told the Daily News. "I take it personally."
